After being inexplicably targeted by an evil intent on harming her at any cost, seventeen-year-old Nikki finds herself under the watchful guardianship of three mysterious young men who call themselves halflings. Sworn to defend her, misfits Mace, Raven, and Vine battle to keep Nikki safe while hiding their deepest secret and the wings that come with.

A growing attraction between Nikki and two of her protectors presents a whole other danger. While she risks a broken heart, Mace and Raven could lose everything, including their souls. There are so many things wrong with this book and I will make a list of them all so that you will not make the same mistake as I did and start this series.
First of all, this book was boring. There was nothing really going on other than poor, whiny Nikki's love triangle.
And now, let me go into everything that was wrong with the theology of this book.
~Half humans-half demons are not sent on assignments from God, and they are not rejects of heaven and they are not good. They are demons, like their fathers.
~God is love and Satan has no grasp over love, so he couldn't possibly make Halflings and humans fall in love (which, in the book they said was the enemy's wish)
~God (and angels) are merciful (but yes, they are also just. You must ask for mercy by giving your life to Jesus) so they wouldn't have banned Will from his position in Heaven's army. That is stupid. Will would have repented, they wouldn't have thrown him out.
~Nikki does marshall arts and karate and stuff. She was trained to be tough. Nikki is a whining, fainting disaster.
~Nikki hasn't accepted Christ into her heart yet, so angels (or Halflings) wouldn't be on an assignment to watch over her. Once she accepts Jesus, then an angel (not a Halfling) would be sent to guard her.
~If Nikki truly loved Mace, she wouldn't be falling for Raven as well. The very fact that when Mace fails to make her happy, she goes searching for love through Raven, it shows that she is boy-hungry (at the beginning of the book, it states that she doesn't care about boys) and is wanting to be loved, not wanting to love. A relationship made up of wanting to be loved will never last.
~Angels (or Halflings in this case) would never leave their charge's side. They never sleep or eat. The Halflings, however, weren't always there for Nikki
~Even were Halflings good, they wouldn't be misfits. They could either embrace their angelic blood and live in heaven (or hell, whatever) or they could embrace their human blood and live as a human. Heaven would never be so cruel as to ban them from both worlds.
~A demon calls the Halflings 'Sons of God' when it was clearly stated that they were born of demons and also that God deserted them and had forbidden them to be in Heaven. This is just plain twisted. I mean, seriously?
~If Mace could heal Nikki's wounds with kisses (like he did), he could have easily healed Bo's. Flaw in the writing here.
~The Halflings and Will aren't sure what Damon Vessler and Omega company wants with Nikki. But God does. God knows everything, and so if they were on an assignment from God, he would have told them.
~Mace is half angel and so fast, humans can't see him moving. I think he could have easily outrun the bullet, especially when the girl he loved was near the other side.
Over all, I didn't really like the book, but it was okay. Because this book was so detail-deprived and focused sorely on the love triangle, my curiosity is not satisfied and I want to know what happens in the other books. Plus, I think I have some suspicions of what might happen in the other books, so I can't wait to see if I'm right.

~~~
There really isn't that much spiritual content in this book. Yes, it is about half-angels, half-humans, but there really isn't any true spirituality in this book, just messed up theology.
~~~

Nikki makes out with two different boys several times during the book. Raven runs his fingers over her shoulder to straighten her strap, tracing his fingers over her bare skin. The book mentions how Raven is always looking for the hot girls on every journey and he makes out with them and plays with their hearts. He is well known as the bad boy.

~~~
One star. I did not like this book very much.
~~~

3. If you like paranormal, you might like this book. But for me, I prefer theological accuracy over a good read. Not that this book was a good read anyways. Nikki is wimpy and the entire book is mostly her messed up love triangle.

What do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives among the romantic hills with their archaelogist parents. Stuck among the rubble of the medieval castles in rural Tuscany, on yet another hot, dusty archaeological site, Gabi and Lia are bored out of their minds...until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.

Suddenly Gabi's summer in Italy is much, much more interesting.

I loved this book! Despite the fact that the review *^^^* makes it sound really cheesy, it's really not. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down! I have reread it several times and I don't think I'll ever get tired of this book, the series, or the author! And I just have to mention my favorite character in this book, Luca Forelli. He is simply hilarious and he will not fail to make you laugh!

~~~
Gabi often refers to the "Big Guy" and because this book takes place in Medieval Italy, a time of much religion, everyone really believes in Jesus. The overall book is Christian, but there aren't as many references and Christian scenes as there could have been.
~~~

There is a time in the book when Gabi is trapped the ground as the enemy starts to undo his belt, obviously intending to r*pe her, but nothing happens and Gabi is rescued by her knight in shining armor. Every so often, someone will try to look up her skirt, but fail. A few kisses, one close to making out.
